On 25 November 2015, the OSCE Mission to Moldova organized a public lecture delivered by the Ambassador of Ukraine to Moldova Ivan Hnatyshyn for 48 students of Comrat University.

The aim of the event was to increase knowledge among youth in Gagauzia regarding opportunities to participate in public life and civil society in Moldova. It gave the students a unique opportunity to learn about the civil service and to ask questions about Ambassador Hnatyshyn’s diplomatic work. In particular, the participants were encouraged to consider the opportunities available to them to engage in public life in Moldova.

“The lecture gave us first-hand insight and the chance to learn from a senior Ukrainian diplomat,” said Andrey Shevel, a student of the Social Protection Faculty of Comrat University. “It is very important that young people learn about existing opportunities to help them become more engaged citizens and to broaden their horizons.”

This is the second in a series of public lectures and forms part of a year-long project implemented by the OSCE Mission to Moldova together with the NGONGO
non-governmental organization
Piligrim-Demo.  One more public lecture will be organized for students in December 2015.
