Our work

The 57 OSCE participating States support a lasting settlement based on Moldova’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders, with a special status for Transdniestria that fully safeguards the rights of its population. To this end, the Mission engages in diplomacy—mostly quiet—to facilitate negotiations and dialogue between Chisinau and Tiraspol.

Overview

In addition to its diplomacy work, the Mission also gathers information on the situation in the Security Zone, as part of its conflict prevention and resolution efforts. It pursues a range of other activities, in close co-operation with the OSCE institutions, including the promotion of human and minority rights, and a culture of tolerance, as well as support for democratic transformation, including through the strengthening of the rule of law.

Confidence-building measures

The “Berlin-plus” package

Since 2016, the Sides from both banks of the Dniester/Nistru River have agreed to work on eight confidence-building measures, which make up the “Berlin-plus” package. The Sides have recorded notable achievements on six of the agreements.
