About
The half-day roundtable meeting will discuss the activities and findings of this year's OSCE Mission project to support the development of local commissions which monitor places of detention. The commissions, established under the 2008 Law on Civil Monitoring of Places of Detention, are comprised of civil society members and possess a clear mandate to monitor all places of detention, including police commissariats, penitentiaries and psychiatric hospitals.
The event will discuss the opportunities and challenges of the commissions' work and how stakeholders can better support their development. Members of local commissions from throughout Moldova, Government officials, and representatives from the National Preventive Mechanism, civil society and the international community will attend the meeting.
