Destruction of cluster munitions in Moldova
In May-July 2010, Moldovan specialists completed the destruction of all Moldovan stocks of cluster bombs under a project developed by the OSCE in co-operation with the Ministry of Defence of Moldova and implemented by Norwegian Peoples Aid with funding from Spain and Norway.
An assessment team from Norwegian Peoples Aid had visited Moldova in 2009 in order to identify the types of cluster bombs in storage, the condition of the weapons and consider options for their disposal. The visit came at the initiative of the Moldovan Ministry of Defence and subsequent requests via the OSCE.
