A two-day training course for national ministry representatives on UN Security Resolution 1325 on women, peace and security, highlighting the importance of including women in peace processes and conflict resolution, was held on 13 and 14 May 2014, in Chisinau.

Participants included representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Labour, Social Protection and Family.

The training was organized by the OSCE Mission to Moldova together with the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) and Moldova’s Foreign Ministry.

“We want to raise awareness among stakeholders over women’s security issues and applicable international standards in that regard and help them to identify practical ways of how to incorporate UNSCR 1325 goals at the national policy level,” said Ambassador Jennifer Brush, Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova.

The main aim of the training is to raise awareness among relevant stakeholders on how to co-operate and report on ensuring UNSCR 1325 goals are met at the national and international level.

The event is part of an extended project with a series of trainings seminars for judges, prosecutors, lawyers, and police officers on combating domestic violence, human trafficking and cybercrime implemented by the Mission’s Anti-trafficking and Gender Programme.
