The OSCE Mission to Moldova held on 20 May 2014 a new round of public debates on political pluralism in the context of decentralization and democratization of Moldova. The debates were held in the town of Balti in the north of the country.

The event brought together representatives of local authorities and different political parties, counselors, leaders of local institutions, regional women associations and students. The discussion focused on increasing transparency in the political decision-making process by establishing a mechanism for public funding, and supporting active involvement of youth and women of local communities.

This was the second round of a series of public debates to strengthen the capacities of political parties in Moldova. The debates were launched on 10 April in the town of Orhei in central Moldova. Two more sessions will follow, in June in Comrat and in September in Cahul. The events are parts of a project implemented by the OSCE Mission and the non-governmental organization IDIS Viitorul.
